Caicedo sees red, thoughts on the decision, Arsenal fans?

Arsenal’s bench was furious with Moises Caicedo’s red card challenge

Moises Caicedo was fired up from the start against Arsenal.

The Chelsea midfielder may have wanted to prove to the world that he is the best midfielder in the Premier League, but his lack of composure cost him.

Caicedo got away with a challenge on Jurrien Timber early in the game, but what he did to Mikel Merino deserved serious punishment.

The Ecuador international caught Merino, studs up, on his ankle. That could’ve been a leg breaker, but thankfully, Merino escaped any serious injury.

Taylor only gave a yellow card, but VAR intervened after a long check. After looking at the monitor, the referee changed his decision and sent Caicedo off.

Before that happened, the entire Arsenal bench, including Arteta and his staff, got to see a replay of the challenge on their monitor. They were furious.

Sky Sports’ Nick Wright wrote: “Arsenal staff and substitutes leap to their feet shouting after watching a replay of that Caicedo challenge on their monitors. It didn’t look good at all.”

Gary Cotterill added: “Blimey. The entire Arsenal bench jumped up in anger at the replay of that tackle. Red all day long.”
