Arsenal are eager to move on from the defeat to Manchester United, but, understandably, United fans aren’t.
After recording back-to-back wins for only the second time this season in the Premier League, Man United fans are singing from the rooftops.
The Red Devils’ win over Arsenal at the Emirates put them 12 points behind Mikel Arteta’s side, giving fans ammunition to taunt Gooners far and wide.
To be fair, having their Premier League win tally hit double figures was a cause for celebration, but that’s not what United fans are focusing on anymore.
You can send Mikel Arteta one message after Man Utd defeat, what is it?
Man United fans are furious at Gabriel Magalhaes and Harry Maguire incident
It’s not only United supporters who have taunted Arsenal fans, as even Amad Diallo mocked the Gunners after the defeat.
The 3-2 win in itself was one talking point, but another has emerged due to full-time footage that has surfaced.
It’s become apparent that at full-time, Gabriel Magalhaes refused to shake Harry Maguire’s hand, and fans are fuming.
On X, Man United fans swarmed around footage, sharing some strong messages for Gabriel.
“He’s a big cry baby,” one United fan claimed.
Another asked, “Why is he being a sour loser?”
The answer to that question might be that Maguire was seen to grapple Gabriel in the box during the fixture, but that’s not the focus on social media right now.
What would your message to Gabriel be after he refused to shake Maguire’s hand?
Was Gabriel in the right, or wrong?
United fans are absolutely raging, to say the least.
“Letting this fella anywhere near a Premier League trophy should fill every non-Arsenal fan with utter disgust,” one supporter said, a comment that Arsenal fans will love.
A fair question was asked, “Where is the sportsmanship?”
Shaking hands at the end of a game should happen regardless of what unfolded between the referees’ whistles, that much is true.
Not every comment was as rational, however: “Win with class, lose with class. Reasons like this most of the country want them to win zero.”
One diagnosed Gabriel with having a ‘loser mentality’.
Mikel Arteta has had his own handshaking incident this season
United fans aren’t happy, and it’s fair to see why, as on this occasion, Gabriel was in the wrong.
Arsenal and Man United’s rivalry is fierce, but that doesn’t excuse poor sportsmanship, particularly as Arsenal fans themselves were fuming at a similar situation only a few weeks ago.
Be honest. What was your immediate reaction to seeing Unai Emery snub a handshake with Mikel Arteta?
When Unai Emery left without shaking Arteta’s hand after Aston Villa’s 4-1 defeat at the Emirates, Gooners far and wide weren’t impressed.
Arteta defused the Emery handshake fallout, saying that the incident was ‘not an issue’.
Sportsmanship is what makes the beautiful game beautiful, so it’s no wonder that without it, things turn ugly.
