Manchester United will have identified Bukayo Saka as Arsenal’s danger man heading into Wednesday night’s fixture at the Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal winger is an integral figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad, and is burdened with a great deal of responsibility, despite still being just 23-years-old.

Bukayo Saka is part of the Arsenal leadership group, having worn the captain’s armband in Martin Odegaard’s absence on numerous previous occasions. He is also the most potent attacker in the squad.

If the North London club are to stand any chance of being crowned Premier League champions this season, then it is vital that the Hale End academy graduate remains fit and firing on all cylinders.

Is Bukayo Saka the best player in the Premier League?

There are a number of exceptional players in the Premier League, but none have been able to match Saka’s creativity so far this season. The Arsenal man has provided ten assists in the competition, at the time of writing.

Amazon Prime Video (04/12/2024, 19:46) presenter Gabby Logan, during the coverage of Wednesday’s fixture, asked: “Would you say at the moment, he could be up there as the best player in the Premier League?”

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov responded.

He said: “For sure. Yeah, for sure… If he stays fit, then I think everything is possible for him. With the assists, the goals, the speed that he has, he is a big figure in the team of Arsenal.”

Whether or not Saka is the best player in the top flight of English football at present is, of course, a subjective matter. However, there is no doubt that he belongs in the debate.

What will especially excite Arsenal fans, though, is that Arteta is convinced that there is more to come from Saka.

How Arsenal can keep Saka

Having been on the books at the Emirates Stadium since the age of seven, Saka has a deep connection with the club. However, he will be desperate to win the silverware that his talent deserves over the course of his career.

The only way that Arteta can ensure that Saka’s commitment to the Arsenal cause does not wane is by keeping his team competitive when it comes to major honours.

Arsenal are already on the back foot in the Premier League title race this season. If Liverpool are allowed to run away from the Gunners in the coming weeks, then questions will surely be asked about Arteta’s ability to deliver the trophies that the club craves.
