Who was your Man of the Match against Mansfield?

Mikel Arteta has helped multiple young Arsenal players break records in recent years.

Ethan Nwaneri was allowed to become the youngest player in Premier League history a few years ago, and that record still stands.

Marli Salmon became Arsenal’s youngest-ever appearance maker in the FA Cup after he came on as a substitute against Wigan Athletic in the last round.

Max Dowman has just broken that record at the age of 16 years and 66 days, but that’s not all.

Not only is he now the youngest Arsenal player to make an appearance in the FA Cup, but he also became the youngest to start a game for the Gunners in the competition.

That record was previously held by Jack Wilshere, set when he made his FA Cup debut in January 2009, aged 17 years and two days.

What’s crazy about the statistic is that Dowman wasn’t even born when Wilshere set that record.

Max Dowman’s stats vs Mansfield Town

Dowman had a very interesting game against Mansfield.

The youngster was fearless on the ball and didn’t hesitate to dribble past players twice his age. He made a few of them look silly too.

In his 77 minutes on the pitch, Dowman had 50 touches of the ball and completed 22 of his 27 attempted passes. He also made two key passes and created a big chance.

The 16-year-old also had five shots at goal, three of which were on target and the other two blocked. However, he did miss two big chances to score, though.

Sofascore gave Dowman a 7.4/10 rating – only the two Arsenal goalscorers, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, earned a higher rating.

That, at 16 years of age, is definitely something to be proud of.
