Viktor Gyokeres has come under a lot of criticism following Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
The Sweden international striker was brought in to solve the Gunners’ goalscoring woes, but his season has not gone to plan.
Gyokeres has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Arsenal, which is simply not good enough for a forward who cost in excess of £60 million.
However, Mikel Arteta is still adamant that his striker is doing the right things.

Mikel Arteta blames Arsenal players for not finding Viktor Gyokeres in the box vs Liverpool
Arsenal fans were far from happy with Viktor Gyokeres’ performance against Liverpool.
The Premier League leaders were the better side in the first half of the game. Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice delivered two incredible balls into the box in search of their striker.
However, on both occasions, Gyokeres stood still. His movement inside the box has been terrible all season, and that was once again the case against the Reds.
After the game, Arteta was directly asked about his striker failing to attack the crosses. The Arsenal manager pointed the finger at other moments in the game when his teammates failed to find him.

He said, as relayed on HaytersTV: “He was in great positions, and sometimes the ball didn’t arrive.
“And as I said, there were situations. Normally, we go into the six-yard box almost with the ball at the feet, and normally that’s a goal, or you pick somebody and you score a goal.
“We didn’t do that, and that’s the thing that we have to improve, apart from the things that we did in the second half that weren’t probably at the standards that we are used to.”
When asked if he thought Gyokeres was improving, Arteta replied without any hesitation: “Yes!”
If you could give one advice to Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal right now, what would it be?
Who is to blame for Viktor Gyokeres’ problems at Arsenal?
Gyokeres has found himself in a very difficult position at Arsenal.
The former Sporting man would’ve known how big a challenge his move to the Gunners would be, but his lack of goals must still be a surprise to him.
Arteta is right, Gyokeres was in some good positions and made a few great runs during the game against Liverpool, but Arsenal players didn’t pass the ball to him.
However, the Swedish striker must take a lot of the blame as well because his movement inside the box is nowhere near the level required.
If that doesn’t change, we think Gyokeres will find himself on the Arsenal bench very soon.
