Mikel Arteta’s heart rate must have been incredibly high during Arsenal’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Gunners were the dominant side for large parts of the game at the Emirates and deservedly went 2-0 up. It seemed like a routine victory at that point, but in typical fashion, they made it hard for themselves.
Who was your Arsenal Man of the Match after 2-1 win against Brighton?
Arsenal allowed Brighton to score a fairly cheap goal, and the momentum of the game completely shifted from that stage.
The Seagulls were all over the Premier League leaders, and what helped them was players like Gabriel Martinelli missing sitters at the other end of the pitch.
Mikel Arteta was on his knees after Gabriel Martinelli’s miss during Arsenal vs Brighton
Mikel Arteta preferred Leandro Trossard over Martinelli on the left wing against Brighton.
The Belgian had a fine game and enjoyed himself in front of his old fans at the away end. He embraced the boos and humiliated a few Seagulls stars.
In the second half, just as Trossard began to slow down, the Arsenal manager decided to take him off and brought Martinelli on.
The Brazilian looked really sharp from the start, and he found himself on the end of a glorious chance inside the box.

Bukayo Saka charged down the right wing and put the ball on a plate for Martinelli. Instead of guiding it past the goalkeeper into the back of the net, he blasted his shot wide.
Watching on from the sidelines, a tense Arteta couldn’t contain his emotions and was on his knees after his number 11’s terrible miss.
Nick Wright, who was covering the game for Sky Sports at the Emirates, spotted Arteta and said: “An absolute mystery how Martinelli has not buried that. Saka’s cross was perfect.
“Arteta can’t believe it. The Arsenal boss spins away and sinks to his knees with his hands over his face.”
Arsenal have a massive problem
This is the third Premier League game in a row in which Arsenal have dominated their opponents but have still had to scrape a win.
They left it late against Wolves, had to fight hard against Everton, and if it wasn’t for David Raya being the saviour, they wouldn’t have won the clash against Brighton.
Is this David Raya’s best-ever save in an Arsenal shirt? If not, which is?
Arsenal simply cannot be doing this. The way they keep wasting chances is not sustainable, and sooner or later, it will come back to haunt them.
Arteta has had the same issue for a few years now, but he hasn’t been able to fix it. If he doesn’t find a solution in the coming months, Arsenal may have to settle for second place again.
That will turn some fans against him.
