Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta saw his side beat Chelsea 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League leaders were the favourites to win the clash, but their recent record in two-legged semi-finals filled nobody with confidence.
However, Arteta’s men deservedly won the game in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, and they now go into the second leg at home with a one-goal advantage.
The Arsenal manager also extended his tremendous record against the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel Arteta’s unbeaten record vs Chelsea at Stamford Bridge outshines all other managers
Games between Arsenal and Chelsea used to be massive, but under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have had no problems at all.
The Spaniard’s record against the big clubs, in general, has been fantastic over the years, but he seems to like playing against the Blues more.
That is because Arteta has lost just two of his 15 games against the West Londoners, the last of which came in 2021, when Thomas Tuchel was still at the club.
Furthermore, the Arsenal manager’s record at Stamford Bridge is incredible – he has never lost a game at Chelsea’s home ground.
According to Opta’s Harvey Downes, ‘Arteta has the best unbeaten record of any manager in history away at Chelsea’.
The Gunners boss has won four and drawn four of his eight games at Stamford Bridge. No other manager has been able to match that since the stadium opened over 100 years ago.
Will Mikel Arteta become Arsenal’s greatest-ever manager?
Mikel Arteta could soon beat Arsene Wenger’s record against Chelsea
Arteta’s record against Chelsea is truly dominant – both home and away.
Arsenal are by far the better club, even though the Blues have spent a lot more money in recent years. That is down to the brilliance of their manager.
As stated above, Arteta has now gone eight games unbeaten against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The last manager to have a better record was Arsene Wenger, who went nine games without defeat away to the Blues between 1998 and 2005.
However, the legendary Frenchman’s sides managed just three wins and six draws in that run. Arteta has a better win percentage already, and we think he will match and break Wenger’s record as well.
That would be a fantastic achievement.
