The two legs between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid had everything.
The three goals are what everyone will look at, but the tactical battles on the pitch, combined with the animated nature of the two managers, were great to see.
What also happened towards the end at the Emirates Stadium was a clash between Andrea Berta and Diego Simeone.
Many viewed that as disrespect from the Italian towards his former employers, but that’s not the story at all.

What really caused the clash between Andrea Berta and Diego Simeone
Berta seems like a calm and composed man, but he is as passionate as they come.
The Italian rarely gives interviews or shows his real side to the world, but there are videos of him celebrating goals passionately.
There was even a time at Atletico Madrid when Berta struck a Manchester City staff member in the face during an altercation.
On Tuesday night, many felt something similar could happen again when Simeone and Berta clashed.

However, it was all a big misunderstanding.
Mundo Deportivo spoke to people at Arsenal, and everyone made it clear that there was no act of disrespect from Berta.
All the sporting director was trying to do was signal to the referee that he thought stoppage time was up.
That led to some anger from the Atletico Madrid camp, including Simeone. The Argentine came towards Berta on the touchline and gave him a push in typical fashion.
They were quickly separated, and the report now claims that there are no problems between them.

Andrea Berta may have changed Arsenal’s fortunes
Arsenal made it into the semi-finals of the Champions League last season, but not many people really believed they could go all the way.
Things are different this season, and Mikel Arteta and the players deserve all the praise in the world for that.
However, Berta should be hailed too because not only did he bring in eight new players last summer, he also extended the contracts of the likes of Bukayo Saka and William Saliba before it got to a difficult stage.
That has helped them stay in the race for the Premier League and Champions League titles, and Arsenal could well do it.
If they do, Berta would be one of the biggest reasons why.
