Pep Guardiola came out on top against Mikel Arteta in the Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Gunners started the game well and did a decent job for large parts of the first half. However, after the break, it was a case of men against boys.

City scored twice and deservedly won the Carabao Cup final, and Arteta and his men showed a lot of respect to the winners after the game.

Pep Guardiola says ‘thank you’ to Mikel Arteta and Arsenal for their ‘incredible gesture’ after Carabao Cup final

After losing 2-0 to Manchester City, Arsenal had to walk up the Wembley stairs first to collect their Carabao Cup runners-up medals.

Once they came down, Pep Guardiola led his side up the stairs to collect their medals and, of course, the Carabao Cup.

Manchester City celebrated winning the cup for the fifth time in the last 10 years on the balcony and then came down to do the same on the pitch.

Mikel Arteta, his coaching staff, and the Arsenal players could’ve just gone back in as soon as they got their medals, but they stayed until City lifted the cup and came down.

There are several videos showing the Gunners boss applauding Guardiola and his side when they lifted the cup.

The Manchester City boss noticed that, and he hailed and thanked Arteta for the gesture.

He told CBS Sports: “It’s against which team we won. This is the strongest one in Europe right now. Look at the Champions League and Premier League. To beat them in many aspects, it looks so difficult.

“They have proven it for many years, especially this season. Of course, Carabao Cup, five in 10 years, we’re happy, but especially against them (Arsenal).

“I have a huge respect. I want to say thank you because they waited, all the team, until we were down. That was an incredible gesture on the part of Mikel and their people.”

Mikel Arteta is completely different to what some people portray him to be

Arteta has been turned into a villain by some rival fans and sections of the media for absolutely no reason.

People portray the Arsenal boss as an arrogant and selfish manager who is disrespectful, but the reality couldn’t be any different.

Arteta is one of the classiest managers in the world. He is always respectful to everyone, conducts himself in an incredible way and never has a bad word to say about the opposition.

His gesture after the Carabao Cup final, as Guardiola described, was ‘incredible’ and completely aligns with the values of Arsenal.

That is enough proof to show what kind of man Arteta is, and anyone who tries to discredit him should be ashamed of themselves.
