Arsenal have suffered heartbreak in the final of the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners started the game brilliantly and took the lead through Kai Havertz. Everything was going to plan from that point, but Cristhian Mosquera conceded a penalty, and PSG levelled the game.

Arsenal eventually lost the game in the penalty shootout, but before it even got to that stage, there were several decisions that went against Mikel Arteta’s side.

Piers Morgan was not happy with the man in the middle.

Piers Morgan slams Arsenal vs PSG referee

German referee Daniel Siebert was tasked with officiating the biggest game in club football – the Champions League final.

The penalty Mosquera conceded on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was the right call, but the official made plenty of other debatable decisions.

Almost every 50-50 call went against the Gunners, but the biggest call of the night came when Noni Madueke was brought down inside the box.

Nuno Mendes appeared to clearly pull the Arsenal winger down, and everyone associated with the club was adamant that it was a penalty.

However, referee Siebert shook his head and waved play on, and the VAR backed the on-field call, which was baffling to the likes of Declan Rice and Arteta, who were both shown yellow cards for their complaints.

Morgan, unsurprisingly, was furious and had a go at the German official.

“This referee is a joke. Decision after decision after decision going against us,” the Arsenal supporting presenter wrote on X.

In another tweet, he added: “That was a blatant penalty on Madueke. This referee is a disgrace.”

Arsenal should still be proud of the 2025/26 season

If someone had said before the start of the season that Arsenal would reach two finals and win the Premier League title, every fan would’ve taken it.

Yes, it is extremely disappointing that the Gunners fell short in the Carabao Cup and Champions League finals, but that shouldn’t hide what they have achieved.

Arsenal won what was arguably the most competitive Premier League title in history, and they did so by seven points in the end.

That is an extraordinary achievement, and every fan should be proud of these players, Arteta and his coaching staff.
