Arsenal progressed to the quarter final of the Champions League with a 9-3 aggregate win over PSV Eindhoven.

Winning 7-1 in the first leg all but secured Arsenal’s place in the Champions League’s final eight, with the second leg confirming the outcome of the tie.

Mikel Arteta made seven changes to his starting XI at the Emirates in what was a positive performance, with the scoreline on the night ending 2-2.

PSV fans were able to enjoy themselves for arguably the first time in the tie but goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Declan Rice ensured the home supporters also had something to cherish from the occasion.

On a night that booked Arsenal’s ticket to the Champions League quarter final, here’s how the players rated.

Arsenal player ratings vs PSV Eindhoven

David Raya – 7

Raya had no chance to save his clean sheet as both Perisic and Driouech finished in style. Aside from conceding, the Spaniard was influential again between the sticks with some saves to add to his impressive catalogue.

Myles Lewis-Skelly – 6.5

Lewis-Skelly returned to the starting XI and almost put himself in the spotlight with a goal but hit the post. The 18-year-old spent more time in the central areas as he drifted in from the left.

Gabriel Magalhaes – 6

A routine performance from Gabriel who rarely puts a foot wrong in this Arsenal squad.

Jakub Kiwior – 5.5

Kiwior was handed a rare start from Arteta and naturally struggled to get into the game. The Poland international looked out of place at times on the right side of central defence, failing to shine on a night that he needed to perform.

Ben White – 7

It was a massive boost for Arteta to have White back in the starting XI, with the Englishman taking no time to show fans what they’ve been missing on the overlap.

Jorginho – 6.5

Jorginho had to do better in the build up to PSV’s goal but aside from the first half mishap, the Italian’s performance was composed and controlled as expected.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 8

Zinchenko impressed Arsenal fans with his start against PSV, opening the scoring after just six minutes in stylish fashion. The 28-year-old shone in midfield, injecting a much needed creative spark to the front line.

Declan Rice – 8

An enjoyable outing for Rice who was always present going forward, adding to his tally this season with another goal.

Mikel Merino – 6

Arteta isn’t giving up on his experiment of Merino as a striker, starting the Spaniard as a number nine once more. It was a routine performance for the midfielder, who provided an aerial presence in central areas.

Raheem Sterling – 9

After Arteta snubbed Sterling against Manchester United, the winger was given a chance from the start against PSV, something he took advantage of.

The Chelsea loanee looked inspired, registering two assists in the first half and causing PSV real problems on the right flank.

Kieran Tierney – 7

Perhaps the most surprising of Arteta’s decisions was to start Tierney in the front three but, the boss’ call paid off.

The Scotsman’s final ball was as good as ever, providing a constant threat from the wide areas.

Substitutes

Riccardo Calafiori – 7

Almost an instant impact from Calafiori who showed some silky footwork to break on the left side, a chance he created that so nearly ended in a goal.

Leandro Trossard – 6

Played some nice passes when coming on from the bench.

Gabriel Martinelli – 6.5

Martinelli almost scored soon after coming on, getting into some encouraging positions.

Jurrien Timber – 6

Great to see Timber get minutes after White’s return, Arteta will soon have a difficult decision to make between the two players.

Martin Odegaard – 6

Odegaard played some attractive football after coming on, which was no surprise amid his building form.
