Rio Ferdinand still believes Arsenal will win the Premier League title despite suffering a shock defeat at home to Manchester United.

It was a tough afternoon for Arsenal as they slipped to their first Premier League defeat since December 6 at the hands of United.

Matheus Cunha snatched the points from the Gunners with an impressive long-range strike, which silenced the Emirates Stadium.

But despite suffering their first defeat in well over two months, Ferdinand is still tipping them to lift the title in four months.

Rio Ferdinand backs Arsenal to win the Premier League

Rio Ferdinand remains confident that Arsenal will win the Premier League title this season despite their latest setback.

The former Manchester United defender simply thinks Mikel Arteta’s team will win the title because the teams chasing them are too inconsistent.

Manchester City and Aston Villa are the two clubs trying to chase them down; however, both sides have dropped silly points this season.

During the game, Ferdinand told his YouTube channel: “They’ve been robotic, they’ve been off it, played within themselves, with the handbrake on.

“Arsenal will win the league, let’s get that right now, Arsenal will win the league, that’s not going to be a problem.

“Arsenal are going to win the league. They’re going to win the league, and that’s mainly because, look at the teams they’re up against.”

Ferdinand also slammed Arteta’s team for the lack of risks which they refuse to take throughout matches, and it cost them against United.

“Inconsistency (from other teams) everywhere, bearing in mind the teams who have won it the last few years have been super consistent. But they don’t play with any risks, Arsenal,” he added.

Next up for the Gunners in the Premier League is a trip to Elland Road to take on a Leeds United team battling relegation.

Patrick Vieira was disappointed by Arsenal’s performance

Another man who was disappointed by Arsenal’s performance is Patrick Vieira, with the former Gunners’ captain slamming the players for failing to deliver in such a big match.

He told Sky Sports: “Disappointing performance. When you’re at the top of the table, you expect to win the game at home. Especially against United.

“I think there was a lack of aggression. Too many players failed to deliver. “A disappointing team performance from Arsenal.”
