Roy Keane left absolutely stunned by what ‘unbelievable’ Arsenal star did in frustrating Liverpool draw

Although Arsenal weren’t quite able to deliver three much-needed points against Liverpool, there were some real positives on display.

Bukayo Saka was brilliant for Arsenal on his injury return – Liverpool even decided to replace Andy Robertson given how much the winger was giving him the runaround.

Saka proved just how crucial he’s become for Arsenal, a player they simply can’t live without.

William Saliba and Martin Odegaard were missed, but Saka’s absence felt different, a player Arteta still has no adequate replacement for.

Although, it wasn’t just Saka who performed well for Arsenal in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool.

Declan Rice was an understated performer at the Emirates Stadium, dropping back into a deeper role as a number six.

Roy Keane says Declan Rice was ‘absolutely fantastic’ against Liverpool

Rice isn’t quite able to contribute the same amount of running power in the pivot, but his set-piece delivery was still a delight in an attacking sense.

And when speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage of the game, Roy Keane celebrated an ‘unbelievable’ delivery by Rice for Mikel Merino’s first goal for Arsenal.

Rice’s set-piece deliveries have become an underrated part of his game, a player who isn’t quite able to whip the ball in like David Beckham but still enjoys unrivalled accuracy.

Keane said: “Unbelievable – what a delivery. Do you know what, Liverpool we can be critical for giving away that free-kick but what a delivery.

“I know they (VAR) were looking at offside – that delivery is absolutely fantastic, amazing.”

And on an evening in which the former Manchester United player was pretty critical of Arsenal, that’s high praise indeed.

Arsenal sweating on Gabriel Magalhaes knee injury

Although Rice has a brilliant availability record, the same can’t be said for a lot of his Arsenal teammates right now.

In fairness, Gabriel Magalhaes has rarely missed any games since signing for Arsenal.

However, Gabriel’s knee injury could be a longer-term issue for Arsenal, who will be awaiting the results of the defender’s scan.

Jurrien Timber also hobbled off the pitch, but fans will hope that was simply some fatigue as a result of rushing back from injury.

Arteta will certainly be shuffling his pack in midweek against Preston North End in the EFL Cup, before he prepares for a tough trip away to Newcastle United.
