Roy Keane says he noticed something about Arsenal that was so ‘bizarre’ vs Liverpool

A lot is being said about Arsenal’s goalless draw against Liverpool.

The Gunners had the opportunity to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table had they won the game, but they had to settle for a point in the end.

Arsenal were superior in the first half, but Liverpool took control of the game after the break thanks to Arne Slot’s tactical tweak.

In the end, a draw is a fair result, but Roy Keane has criticised Arsenal after noticing something about them during the game.

Roy Keane says Arsenal bizarrely lacked belief against Liverpool

The analysis of Arsenal’s 0-0 draw against Liverpool has been strange.

Even though the Reds failed to have a single shot on target against the Gunners, they are being praised for their performance at the Emirates.

Gary Neville raved about Liverpool’s brilliance and criticised Arsenal, and his old captain, Keane, has just done the same.

The legendary Manchester United captain accused the Premier League leaders of lacking belief on Thursday night, which he found ‘really bizarre’.

He said on Sky Sports: “We watch football all the time and we looked at Arsenal and we gave them all the praise before the game.

“The table doesn’t lie with the amount of games Arsenal have won. They are brilliant defensively.

“But they looked as though they lacked a bit of belief tonight, which is really bizarre when you look at a team that is absolutely flying at the top of the table.

“Liverpool are coming, missing some important players, you’re thinking, ‘go on, just flex your muscles and send a message to the other teams that you’re going to go onto the next level and get a bigger lead in terms of league table points’.

If you could make one pundit stop talking about Arsenal, who would you choose and why?

Roy Keane is wrong; Arsenal did not lack belief

We don’t think Arsenal really lacked belief; they were just outnumbered in midfield and knew that they would fall into Liverpool’s hands if they tried to get out aggressively.

That made it seem like they didn’t know what to do, which is true to some extent, but there was no problem with the belief – they created more clear-cut chances in the second half than the visitors.

Noni Madueke’s brilliant cross across the face of the goal should’ve been tapped in, while Gabriel Magalhaes would’ve scored in the final action of the game had Gabriel Jesus not interfered from behind.

Without belief, no team can create two big chances like those while clearly being second-best for 45 minutes of the game.

We’re sure Arteta would’ve had no issue with the mentality of his side in the 0-0 draw. The problem was finishing off their chances, and that has been the case all season.
