The one good thing that could come from Arsenal losing to Man City

Arsenal were beaten by Manchester City on Sunday in what was billed as a title-decider for both clubs.

Of course, it’s so easy to be deflated by this result as Arsenal’s title dreams may have, once again, gone up in smoke.

However, as you always have to, if you zoom out a little bit, you could find at least a small reason to be positive here.

Indeed, while it’s not necessarily time for celebration, there is the slightest positive to take from this match – the fact that Pep Guardiola could end up leaving City at the end of this season.

Simple question: How do Arsenal win the Premier League title from here?

The positive to come from Arsenal’s loss to Man City

As painful as this loss was, it’s worth remembering that this result could push Pep Guardiola closer to the Manchester City exit door.

Guardiola has been Arsenal’s nemesis for such a long time now, but there have been reports that he could leave the Etihad at the end of this season.

According to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Football Terrace earlier this week, the feeling around City is that Guardiola is more likely to leave if he does win silverware this season.

“But there’s also suddenly now a possibility of Manchester City winning a domestic treble of which they’ve already got one trophy in the bag and that may delay a decision. And some people in the industry think that Pep Guardiola is maybe more inclined to stay if Manchester City don’t win another trophy because he doesn’t want to leave the project on a low comparative to so many highs.”

As Arsenal fans know, City are now favourites for the title after Sunday’s result, and one final league title may be enough for Guardiola to set off into the sunset.

Where Arsenal go from here remains to be seen, but, it is worth ruminating on the fact that next season’s title race could be that much easier if Pep Guardiola is not in the Manchester City dugout.

Today will go down as a dark day for Arsenal, but if it helps take Pep Guardiola away from Manchester City, there could end up being a positive to take away here.
