Tim Sherwood made a prediction about one Arsenal star before Wolves clash but it backfired spectacularly

Arsenal went into the game against Wolves as the favourites to win, and they did just that.

The Gunners were on top of the Premier League table, while Wolves, who haven’t won a single game all campaign, were 20th. Everyone expected Mikel Arteta’s men to batter their opponents on Saturday night, but Rob Edwards’ side put up a great fight and were arguably unlucky not to come away with a draw.

The Wanderers’ display surprised many people, including Tim Sherwood.

The former Tottenham manager believed that the clash was going to be one-sided, so much so that he made an audacious prediction about Viktor Gyokeres before the game.

That, unfortunately, did not come true.

If you could swap Viktor Gyokeres for Benjamin Sesko right now, would you? If so, why?

Tim Sherwood’s prediction about Viktor Gyokeres before Arsenal vs Wolves backfired

Gyokeres was given the nod to start in the Premier League against Wolves for the first time since he got injured at Burnley at the start of November.

The Swede spent a spell on the sidelines and is slowly getting back to his best level. That is why many felt that the game against Wolves was perfect for him.

The Wanderers had conceded 33 goals in their first 15 games. Sherwood noticed that stat and was quickly convinced that Arsenal were going to run riot.

Furthermore, the former Spurs boss predicted before the game that Gyokeres would score a hat-trick.

Speaking on Premier League Productions ahead of kickoff, he said: “The crowd will come expecting them (Arsenal) to win heavily. I expect them to win heavily.

“I expect Gyokeres to, not so much double his tally of six, but I expect him to take the match ball home tonight. He will be desperate to play in this game. Everyone would.

“If you’re a striker, you want to play against the worst defence in the league. And that’s what you’re up against tonight.”

Sherwood’s prediction backfired spectacularly because Gyokeres offered nothing all game. He was really poor, didn’t get close to scoring, and frustrated Arsenal fans with his movement.

What is Viktor Gyokeres’ biggest weakness right now? 😬

Viktor Gyokeres’ biggest fear at Arsenal could come true

Gyokeres’ performance against Wolves was really worrying.

The 27-year-old was brought in to solve Arsenal’s goalscoring woes up top, but the fact that he didn’t get on the end of any crosses is a major worry.

Just like against Club Brugge, Gabriel Jesus looked way better than Gyokeres after he came on the pitch, and that could soon become a problem for the Swede.

If Gyokeres’ form doesn’t improve, he could be dropped and replaced by the Brazilian, or Kai Havertz, who is close to making his comeback from injury.

Being the second or third choice at Arsenal would’ve been Gyokeres’ biggest fear when he joined in the summer. Now, it could come true.
