Viktor Gyokeres’ struggles at Arsenal continued on Tuesday evening as the striker produced a shocking display against Chelsea.
Arsenal booked their spot in the Carabao Cup final, but all the work was done in the first leg as the Gunners produced a 1-0 win over Chelsea.
😬 Use ONE WORD to summarise Viktor Gyokeres showing during Arsenal vs Chelsea…
Neither London club ever looked like scoring at the Emirates Stadium, and it was a particularly tough evening for Arsenal’s number 14.
Gyokeres struggled to have any sort of impact against the Blues, and he is incredibly fortunate that the Gunners did not need a goal.
Viktor Gyokeres’ shameful performance vs Chelsea
Viktor Gyokeres should be ashamed of his performance during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
Mikel Arteta will be looking at the striker’s stats against their London rivals and will be unsure how he can fit the striker back into his team.
Gyokeres managed just one shot, ten touches and completed just one pass throughout his 69-minute cameo in North London.
Chelsea have just one clean sheet under Liam Rosenior, so Gyokeres should be so frustrated not to have added to his tally for the season.
Another worry for Gyokeres will be the fact that Kai Havertz came off the bench to replace him and found the back of the net.
Fill in the blank: Mikel Arteta MUST START ___________ up front for Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final… 👀
The German striker calmly took the ball around Robert Sanchez and slotted home to book Arsenal’s ticket to Wembley Stadium.
Arteta will now face a huge decision ahead of the Carabao Cup final as to who he will start in the number nine role, especially with Havertz now back fit.
Gary Neville slams Viktor Gyokeres during Arsenal vs Chelsea
Gary Neville was also less than impressed by Gyokeres’ performance, and he thought the Swede really struggled.
The former Man United defender also called for the Gunners’ attackers to do more, with Eberechi Eze, Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke also disappointing.
Neville told Sky Sports: “A massive struggle for Gyokeres. Arsenal need more from their forward players – they’ve not done enough.”
