Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes sent a stern message to Manchester City after the two sides met in September.
A spark ignited after the Gunners travelled to the Etihad Stadium on match day five of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola’s squad clashed over a dramatic 90 minutes in Manchester that afternoon, with the scoreline ending in a 2-2 draw.
Following the high-intensity fixture, Erling Haaland had a message for Arteta, telling the Spaniard to ‘stay humble’, words that triggered a new level of hostility between the two clubs.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ message to Manchester City ahead of Emirates clash
Arsenal so nearly secured their first win at the Etihad in almost a decade, with the scoreline reading 2-1 until the final seconds.
John Stones scored to earn City a late point in the fixture, a battle that the Gunners fought valiantly with just ten men.
Following the high-drama match, Arsenal and City players clashed, and it was not only Haaland who had words for the opposition.
Stones called out Arsenal’s game plan and to fight back, Gabriel Magalhaes sent a warning to Guardiola’s players.
The Brazilian branded the fixture a ‘war’, urging City to be ready for the return meeting at the Emirates, a spectacle that takes place next.
“It’s a battle, a war,” Gabriel said before commenting on Haaland’s post-match behaviour.
“It’s normal to have provocative acts in football, it’s part of the game. Now this is over and we are waiting for them at our ground.”
Haaland petulantly hit Gabriel with the ball after Stones’ late equaliser, followed by heated exchanges with Arteta and Gabriel Jesus at full-time.
Arsenal’s star centre-back made sure that City remembered their actions ahead of the meeting at the Emirates, adding fuel to the fire ahead of Sunday’s blockbuster clash.
Haaland’s struggles against Gabriel
Arsenal fans have prepared a message to Haaland outside of the Emirates ahead of the game, with the clash promised to be a Premier League spectacle.
The Norweigan’s childish behaviour after the last fixture certainly ignited a fire within the two squads but fortunately, Arsenal are well qualified to handle the striker’s wrath.

As seen above, Haaland has a far lesser impact against William Saliba and Gabriel than he does against any other Premier League side.
Arsenal’s central defensive partnership has limited City’s talisman since the start of last season, making his frustration almost comprehensible last time out.
It’s set to be a high-energy battle between the forward and the Gunners’ defence once more on match day 24, with revenge on the minds of everyone involved.
