Arsenal’s Champions League dream came to a heartbreaking end in the final in Budapest.
The Gunners took the lead, looked in control despite not having much of the ball, and were on the right path to winning their first-ever European crown.
However, PSG won a penalty, levelled the game, took it to a shootout and ended up beating Arsenal to lift the Champions League trophy.
That was heartbreaking for every fan of the Emirates Stadium club, including former sporting director Edu Gaspar.
Now that you’ve all had time to reflect, why did Arsenal lose the Champions League final?
Edu Gaspar sent a brilliant message to Arsenal players before the Champions League final
Everyone associated with Arsenal was desperate to see Mikel Arteta’s side win the Champions League.
The Gunners have never won the competition in their history, despite playing over 200 games. No other team has played more and failed to win the trophy.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, that unwanted record in the Champions League has continued, which is a real shame as they were so close.
Before the game, the players and coaching staff received a number of good luck messages – not just from fans but their friends, families and colleagues.

One of those who wrote a letter to those at the club was Edu, who was full of support for his old side.
He wrote in his letter, as per The Athletic: “To everyone at Arsenal, I’ll be in the stadium sending all my positive energy and support, hoping everything goes as planned!
“Today is a day to make history! Let’s go, guys!!! Good luck!”
That’s a great message from Edu, but unfortunately for Arsenal, they could not get over the line.
