Amid the jubilation at the Emirates when Gabriel Martinelli scored Arsenal’s late equaliser, Martin Zubimendi was furious.

Mikel Arteta was saved by Martinelli, who scored in the 93rd minute against Manchester City to level the scoreline.

Arsenal earned just one point despite dominating the contest, giving Arteta a lot to improve on as the season progresses.

Still, nothing will take away from the celebrations a late goal against a Premier League title rival brings, but not every Arsenal player was joyous.

Manchester City players tried to stop Martin Zubimendi from taking the ball after Arsenal’s equaliser

As Martinelli wheeled away in celebration, Martin Zubimendi had other ideas, running to collect the ball from the net before celebrating himself.

The Spaniard encountered some trouble amid the celebrations, as when collecting the ball from the net, Ruben Dias attempted to prevent the midfielder from doing so.

The defender was spotted pulling Zubimendi to the ground in the goal, then pushing down on his shoulders to prevent him from getting up with the ball.

Zubimendi looked up at Dias in disbelief before claiming the ball and staring furiously at the Man City centre-back on his way back to the halfway line.

It wasn’t the first time there’s been drama in the goalmouth between Man City and Arsenal, as Erling Haaland infamously threw the ball at Gabriel Magalhaes after John Stones’ equaliser last season.

It was a poor showing from Dias to act in such a way towards Zubimendi, but the Portugal international was clearly hurting from conceding so late.

Ruben Dias ‘frustrated’ to concede Gabriel Martinelli’s equaliser

Dias’ frustrations at the time were clear for all to see, and post-match, the player discussed his feelings about the late equaliser.

“Even though they had a lot of the ball, I felt like we were very much in control, we were very solid,” Dias told Manchester City’s official website

“Of course, they got that goal in the end, and it’s frustrating for us, but it’s more to learn from.”

City managed to hold themselves defensively for the majority of the contest, up until Eberechi Eze and Martinelli exposed the visitors’ high line in the dying embers.
