£110k-a-week Arsenal star now issues 4-word injury update in boost to Mikel Arteta

Veteran Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has suggested that he will be back in action soon.

Jorginho was not included in the Arsenal matchday squad that took on Brighton and Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The 31-year-old was ruled out of that game with a foot injury. Fortunately, in his absence, the north London club were still able to produce an utterly dominant performance, restricting the Seagulls’ attacking play to an extent very rarely seen.

However, Mikel Arteta will still be keen to have Jorginho back at his disposal as soon as possible. The Spanish coach is a huge fan of the £110,000-a-week former Chelsea man. He even recently named him one of the most intelligent players he has ever worked with.

Whilst he is not a nailed-on starter, Jorginho has qualities that make him a very useful member of this Arsenal squad. His experience and leadership skills make him an asset in the dressing room. On the pitch he is a calming, composed presence and an excellent passer of the ball.

There are flaws in the 50-cap Italy international’s game. He lacks pace and physicality, which can lead to him being exposed and exploited by some opponents. Against certain teams, though, and in particular game states, his strengths come to the fore.

Will Jorginho be available against Liverpool?

One game which could suit Jorginho’s skillset is this Saturday’s upcoming trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool. Certainly, if Arsenal are able to go ahead in that match, bringing on Jorginho would help the Gunners to maintain control of the game. He would also afford extra protection to the back four.

Arteta will want as many players as possible fit to take on Liverpool. The winner of that match will take control of the title race and will be top of the Premier League table at Christmas.

There is a chance that Jorginho will be fit enough to play some part in that all-important top of the table clash against the Reds. As quoted by football.london, the midfielder recently gave an optimistic four-word update on his recovery, saying, “getting better, getting better.”

Even if Jorginho is unavailable to play a part against Jurgen Klopp’s side, Arteta will still be confident that his side can win the midfield battle against the Merseyside outfit. His midfield contingent really clicked against Brighton last time out. Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Kai Havertz are all currently in great form.
