The Gunners desperately needed a new striker this summer, and Mikel Arteta decided very early on that he wanted Jesus. The Brazilian was about to enter the final year of his contract at Manchester City, and after Pep Guardiola signed Erling Haaland, it became clear Jesus was on the market.
Edu jumped on the task and after weeks of negotiations, sealed a ยฃ45 million deal to sign the truly magnificent Brazilain centre-forward. Now, we know why Arteta was so keen.

Jesus started the game on the bench this evening, but everyone knew he was going to come on for his debut at some point. Arsenal went two goals down in the first half, and Arteta decided it was time.
The former Manchester City star was introduced after the break and the Brazilian needed just 90 seconds to score his first goal in Arsenalโs colours. It was a sensational strike too, and it showed us what weโve been missing for a while now.
Jesus picked up another goal in the 75th minute, but the 25-year-old couldโve easily scored one or two more goals before that. His link-up play was fantastic too, and his chemistry with Eddie Nketiah really caught our eye as well.
It was only Jesusโ first game for Arsenal, but he still looked so sharp. We really have got a special player on our hands, and we canโt wait to see him lead our line when the Premier League begins next month.
