Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Mustoe has lauded Gabriel Magalhaes’ performance this weekend for Arsenal against Brentford.

The Brazilian defender was once again fantastic at the back as the former LOSC Lille star kept the Bees relatively quiet at the Emirates Stadium alongside William Saliba as Arsenal extended their winning run to eight games.

Gabriel has been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League this season and has been a titan in the defence for the Gunners, with the £27m star playing some of his best football yet for Arsenal.

And speaking on NBC Sports, Mustoe was full of praise for Gabriel after the Brazilian’s performance against Brentford, with the pundit also lauding Saliba.

Gabriel’s displays at the back have been vital for Arsenal this season, and it’s easy to predict that the Gunners simply wouldn’t be where they are now without the former Ligue 1 star.

Mustoe said on Gabriel’s performance against Brentford: “Back on the emotion that I did like, was the defenders. I mean Gabriel and Saliba. Gabriel was like a man possessed.

“Really strong, really aggressive, high fives all over and Ben White came over as well. There’s a real sense of fight there and you’ve got to love that if you’re an Arsenal fan. It’s such an important three points but in a different way.”

Gabriel has been integral to Mikel Arteta’s rebuild at Arsenal, with the defender one of the first signings the Basque manager made during his tenure with the Gunners.

And after everything that has happened in recent years, Gabriel will be eager to end this season with the Premier League title in his hands, along with the rest of the squad and the fans.

Indeed, the Brazilian has been an immense presence at the back for Arsenal since joining the club in 2020, and Gabriel will want to end this season on a high with silverware.
