Arsenal target Gabri Veiga is set to join a Saudi Arabian club in this transfer window.
As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Gabri Veiga is on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ahli, who had identified the player as “their secret top target.” Veiga had also been of interest to Arsenal earlier this summer, as reported by French publication Le10Sport.
Whilst the Gunners pondered over meeting Veiga’s £34 million release clause, Veiga was being successfully courted by Al Ahli. If Mikel Arteta still wishes to bolster his midfield contingent further this summer, then he must turn to alternative targets.
Veiga would have been an interesting addition to the Arsenal squad. The 21-year-old enjoyed a breakout season with Celta Vigo last time out. He managed to rack up 11 goals in 36 La Liga outings, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young prospects in Spanish football.
Why Pele Is Overrated.

Arsenal must focus their attention elsewhere
It must be regarded as quite the coup for Al Ahli to attract a player with Veiga’s promise away from European club football at such an early stage in his career. Arsenal themselves may come to regret not having made their move for the Spain under-21 international earlier this summer.
However, there are other areas of Arteta’s squad that are in more urgent need of attention. Arsenal are still potentially an attacker short, and Jurrien Timber’s ACL injury has left them lacking strength in depth for the right-hand side of their defensive line.
The most pressing issue for Arsenal, though, is the need to makes sales. A move for Veiga, or anyone else this summer, having already brought in Timber, Kai Haverts, Declan Rice, and David Raya, would be impossible until some of the fringe players at the Emirates Stadium have been moved on.
