£45m player is suddenly so underrated at Arsenal, he doesn’t need an upgrade

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has now somehow fallen into the category of underrated players at the club amid talk of future new signings.

Mikel Arteta’s side have recently been linked with a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January.

And in the midst of the links, several pundits have claimed it’s about time that Arsenal signed a ‘clinical goalscorer‘.

Moreover, these comments seemingly suggest that Toney could replace Jesus in Arsenal’s front line.

Something that is quite unfathomable. 

Gabriel Jesus would likely start for any team in world football, just look at this time winning it all with Manchester City.

Since signing for £45m last summer, Jesus has been absolutely vital in transforming Arsenal’s fortunes.

To merely judge Jesus on his goals alone would be a huge mistake.

Jesus offers so much more to Arteta’s side and every player around him plays better when the Brazilian is on the pitch.

Suggestion that Arsenal could now do better is well wide of the mark.

Arsenal must be progressing very well if Jesus is now being underrated

It wasn’t so long ago that Arsenal were said to be dependent on their new striker.

When Jesus suffered a knee injury last year, some parts of the media thought Arsenal’s title challenge was over before it had started.

However, Eddie Nketiah did a fine job in the period in which the 26-year-old was missing.

And such is the progress Arsenal have made, some have now forgotten just how much Jesus makes Arsenal tick.

It’s not an exaggeration to suggest that Jesus helped teach the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka how to press effectively.

The striker is renowned for being one of the best pressing forwards in world football.

And despite Ivan Toney having so many good attributes, he simply can’t be suggested as an upgrade on Jesus.

They are entirely different players, and ones who can complement each other in the same squad and team.

Jesus’ ability is now being so underrated, and if Arsenal are to achieve all of their aspirations this season he will still be so key.
