Arsenal are enjoying a real purple patch when it comes to home grown talent being produced from their academy.
Per Mertesacker is working wonders at his Hale End academy and providing Mikel Arteta with genuine level-raisers for his first-team squad.
Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe helped to elevate Arsenal back into Premier League contention at the start of Arteta’s reign and Max Dowman is the latest star grabbing the attention of the footballing world.
Last season saw the emergence of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly into the fold and the duo are already having a real influence on their Gunners teammates.

Noni Madueke copies Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly pre-match routine at Arsenal
Speaking to Arsenal’s official YouTube channel, Noni Madueke has revealed that he shares the same pre-match routine as his new teammates Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly.
The winger arrived at the Gunners from rivals Chelsea in a £52m deal during the summer transfer window and has made an impressive start to life in North London.
After being spotted on the pitch at Old Trafford hours before the opening Premier League game, Madueke stated: “I like to come out on the pitch, especially away games as well.
“Just to see what the grass is like and take in the environment. I feel like it’s the first stage of locking into the game, fully, like alright cool I’m here now.”
Dan Burn praised Madueke’s dribbling ability after spending time with the Newcastle defender during England’s latest FIFA World Cup qualifying camp.
Madueke shone in both games as he provided an assist against Andorra and scored during an emphatic 5-0 win over Serbia.
Arsenal’s academy named second most productive in England
Madueke has enjoyed his time with the Hale End duo so far during his Arsenal career and with Dowman also pushing for a place in Arteta’s squad, it is no surprise Mertesacker’s work has been praised on a national level.
According to The Training Ground Guru, the Gunners are second only to Chelsea in terms of ‘Academy Productivity’.
The system assesses English Academies according to the number of graduates who made at least one appearance in the top five English leagues, as well as the other ‘Big Five’ European leagues – La Liga (Spain), Bundesliga (Germany), Serie A (Italy) and Ligue 1 (France) in 2024/25.
It is more recognition for the great work Arsenal are doing in producing homegrown talent and they will be keen to continue to produce players for Arteta and other first-team squads around the globe.
