Shkodran Mustafi has had his time as a player at Arsenal but he’s keeping a close watch on things from afar as a pundit.

Mustafi enjoyed a decent enough spell with the Gunners and is fondly enough remembered by Arsenal fans in the main.

Now, the German is looking on to see if his former club can get over the line in Europe and the Premier League.

However, Mustafi has sent a warning to the Gunners and Mikel Arteta.

Does Anthony Gordon REALLY improve Arsenal’s XI? If so, how much are YOU paying for him if you’re Arsenal?

Shkodran Mustafi warns Arsenal about ‘bottling’ the league again

Arteta and Arsenal know full well the pressure is on in the coming week.

They face a huge clash with Fulham this weekend before facing off with Atletico Madrid again for a place in the Champions League final.

Now, Mustafi insists it’s time for Arteta’s Arsenal to go to the next step.

“He has taken the club to three second-place finishes. A Champions League semi-final, already very successful in the Champions League last season, and again in the semi-finals this season. And now comes the next step,” Mustafi commented for Sky Sports DE.

“The danger is that this nervousness you have right now, if you get knocked out again or don’t go all the way this season, you could suddenly be labelled a ‘bottling’ club instead of a winning one. And that, of course, only increases the uncertainty.

“So at some point, you have to take that step and cross that line.”

Arsenal know full well that the time has come for them to become the team that wins.

This season will particularly sting if they do miss out as well. Having been nine points clear just a month or so ago, the lead in the league has been a catastrophic throwaway.

However, the Gunners do sit back on top and the pressure is on Man City to keep getting the points.

Furthermore, home advantage in Europe offers the perfect chance of a European final.

Essentially, the time is now for Arsenal and the players to step up. There can be no more excuses.
