Aaron Ramsdale says people ‘disrespect’ one Arsenal player a lot, but he’s actually ‘incredible’

Aaron Ramsdale was a very popular member of the squad when he was at Arsenal.

The Englishman joined the Gunners from Sheffield United in the summer of 2021. Nobody was really convinced about him at the time, but Mikel Arteta ignored every opinion and brought him in.

That proved to be a great decision as Ramsdale was mostly incredible for two years at Arsenal. He saved the Gunners on plenty of occasions and was loved by the fans as well as his teammates.

Now, Ramsdale has delivered his verdict on one Arsenal player who he feels doesn’t get enough credit from the footballing world.

Gabriel Magalhaes has been one of Arsenal’s most important players.

The Brazilian joined the Gunners in the summer of 2020 from Lille. Not many people had heard of him in England, but he scored on his debut and made a great name for himself.

Since then, Gabriel has improved year on year and is now one of the best defenders in the Premier League, if not in Europe.

He is absolutely incredible, but people often ignore him and focus fully on his partner, William Saliba. That, at times, feels really unfair as Gabriel has been just as good for Arsenal over the years.

Ramsdale played behind both of them at Arsenal, and he has now claimed that Gabriel is the one who makes Saliba better, but still gets disrespected.

He said on Sky Sports: “He (Gabriel) makes him (Saliba) look better. People disrespect him a lot. He (Saliba) is incredible, but he (Gabriel) makes him so much better.

“He’s one of the nicest men until he gets over that white line. He’ll do anything to either save a goal or score a goal. I’ve seen him have his teeth knocked out a couple of times and then he’s on the pitch after trying to find them. He’s incredible, honestly!

“I love everything about him. He wants to defend, the way he defends, the way he celebrates, he’s incredible!”

Gabriel is on track to break one all-time Arsenal record

Ramsdale is right, Gabriel deserves so much more credit than he gets.

Most Arsenal fans already know how good he is, but supporters of other clubs, pundits and the media often forget about him while speaking about the best defenders.

Gabriel is not only a world-class centre-half, but he is incredible at the other end of the pitch too. He has scored 19 goals for Arsenal, 17 of which have come in the Premier League.

Gabriel needs just five more goals to equal Laurent Koscielny’s record for most goals scored by an Arsenal defender in the history of the Premier League.

We really think the Brazilian will break Koscielny’s record in the next 12 months.

That would be phenomenal, and we just hope that Gabriel will get more credit than he does now when that happens.
