Viktor Gyokeres has had a mixed start to life at Arsenal.
The Sweden international joined the Gunners from Sporting CP in the summer. He was their second-most expensive signing of the window after Eberechi Eze and was expected to be the one to solve their goalscoring issues.
Gyokeres has worked his socks off for Arsenal since his debut, but he has only managed to score six goals in 19 appearances so far.
That has become a big concern for fans, but former Gunner Aaron Ramsey is convinced that Gyokeres will succeed at the Emirates.
Will Viktor Gyokeres turn it around like Thierry Henry did? If not, why?
Aaron Ramsey says Viktor Gyokeres will ‘flourish for many years’ at Arsenal
Ramsey has played with some great strikers over the years.
From Thierry Henry, Robin van Persie and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Arsenal to Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, he knows an elite forward when he sees one.
The former Gunners midfielder has kept a close eye on Arsenal this season, and Viktor Gyokeres seems to have impressed him.
Despite all the noise from the outside, much of which has been negative, Ramsey believes the Swede is the right man for Mikel Arteta’s side and will come good very soon.

When asked if he expected more from Gyokeres, he replied on Premier League Productions: “Yeah, you would’ve liked to have thought that, but I’ve been really impressed with his movement.
“His work ethic is brilliant. I think he offers a lot in the front line, with the intensity that he plays at. The goals will come, and I’m sure that he will flourish for many years there.
“The main thing, though, is that he keeps making those runs, and he keeps being a constant threat in behind, because the players behind him, there’s so much quality to find him or to slip him in.
“He’s going to get chances.”
What is Viktor Gyokeres’ biggest weakness right now? 😬
What must Mikel Arteta work on with the Swede in training?
Viktor Gyokeres should do better, but Arsenal players aren’t helping him either
Gyokeres’ movement inside the box has been really underwhelming this season.
One of a striker’s biggest traits is to be in the right place at the right time, but for whatever reason, the Swede has rarely managed to do that. That is an area of his game that he must improve.
However, when Arsenal are building play up from deep, many of Gyokeres’ runs in behind are ignored by his teammates, leaving him disappointed.
This needs to change. The 28-year-old is lethal when he is unleashed in behind, and almost always manages to score in such situations.
We haven’t seen a lot of that at Arsenal because of the players behind him, but we’re sure Arteta will be urging his midfielders to get better on that front.
