Some Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express their displeasure about an incident that occurred in the Champions League game between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain last night.

The Red Devils hosted the French champions and a win would have sealed the top spot in their group. However, a brace from Neymar either side of Marquinhos’ 69th minute strike sealed a win for Thomas Tuchel’s side at Old Trafford.

United could have easily gone out of sight when the scores were level. Anthony Martial missed two sitters, and Fred got sent off about 40 minutes after he should have actually seen red.

The Brazilian midfielder and Leandro Paredes were involved in a heated argument in the first half. The Manchester United man lost his cool and headbutted the Argentine – much like Nicolas Pepe did against Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski last month.

The Ivorian was shown a straight red card at Elland Road and rightly so. However, Fred, despite a VAR check, was only given a yellow card, and that annoyed a number of Arsenal fans on social media.

Pepe is currently serving a three-game ban for what he did against Leeds and he will miss the North London derby as a result. That is a massive blow for us considering that he has arguably been our best attacker this season.

The referee’s decision to let Fred stay on the pitch after what he did in the first half would have angered Pepe and Mikel Arteta. Arsenal supporters were no different.
