Adam Wharton has revealed that Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has been really helping him behind the scenes this season.
Wharton and Rice are set to be key players for Thomas Tuchel’s England team at the World Cup in the summer, with the more experienced star helping Crystal Palace midfielder.
Would Adam Wharton get into Arsenal’s current XI? If yes, who drops out?
Rice has become a real leader at Arsenal and England over recent years, also helping the likes of Max Dowman and Elliot Anderson.
The Gunners are looking to sign a new midfielder in the summer, and potentially Rice’s relationship with the Palace man could help them get him in.
Declan Rice has been mentoring Adam Wharton
Adam Wharton has revealed that Declan Rice has been helping to mentor him behind the scenes at the recent England camps.
The 22-year-old is one of the Premier League’s most sought-after players and is quickly becoming a key player for the Three Lions.
Meanwhile, Rice is now one of Europe’s best in his position, and he is helping the next generation to try to reach his level as a player.
The midfielder has now explained that Rice has been giving him advice and just chatting to him about football, which he loves.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Wharton said: “I’ve spoken to Declan quite a few times since, and he’s always really positive. It’s not necessarily just about him giving me advice; it’s more just about speaking about football.
“We enjoy speaking about football, and obviously, the more you speak with other players, you can learn from them and take little bits on how they see the game.
“So yeah, I think it’s always good to speak to the other players, not only Declan, but all the other experienced players. Because everyone sees the game differently.”
Arsenal must go all out to sign Adam Wharton this summer
Along with Anderson, Wharton is one of the players Andrea Berta should be targeting in the summer as the Italian looks to add to the club’s options.
👀 AGREE or DISAGREE: Elliot Anderson would be the best midfield signing Arsenal could make…
Both players are likely to be on the move in the summer, having outgrown Nottingham Forest and Palace over the last year.
Sandro Tonali has been linked with Arsenal, but Wharton and Anderson should be the main priorities given their relationship with Rice.
Martin Zubimendi has been well off the pace at times this season, and it’s time for the Gunners to bring in a new midfielder.
