Alan Shearer says Arsenal are ‘more durable’ but do face ‘worry’ ahead of Man City clash

Arsenal head to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City tomorrow knowing that the result could have huge implications on the Premier League title race.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently one point ahead of Man City, and whilst the clash between the two sides could be monumental, there will still be a long way to go no matter the result.

Both teams will have nine games remaining, and even if Arsenal do secure a first victory at City in over nine years, they will still have some tough trips to Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to navigate.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has now claimed that whilst Arsenal are in a better position to win the league than they were last year, there is one concern for them.

Speaking via Premier League Productions, Shearer highlighted the difficulty of Arsenal’s schedule with away trips a particular concern for Arteta.

“They’re more durable, definitely,” he stated.

“I think their signings have done exactly what they wanted them to do, they’ve tightened them up.

“Defensively, they’re much better. Their away games would be the slight worry for me.

“Every team you can tell will look at Arsenal and see because of what happened last year, because they have won it for so long, that heaps pressure on them.”

Arsenal’s excellent away record bodes well for title run-in

Arsenal have been outstanding on the road this season, and heading into the City game they are coming off the back of three away victories in which they scored 17 times and did not concede.

If they can pull off a result at City, it will give them confidence that they can beat Manchester United and Spurs away from home in what would be rare victories.

Arsenal do have the tougher games on paper, particularly away from home, but if they are able to maintain their current form away from the Emirates, they should still back themselves to navigate these tough fixtures.

Arteta’s side will have learned from their experiences last season where they threw away points from winning positions in away games, and their defensive solidity makes their style more sustainable ahead of the run-in.
