Satisfying any fanbase in the transfer market is never easy and when it comes the Arsenal supporters, things are no different.
Year after year we sit and watch on as the club squanders millions on new players. Sometimes, they get it perfectly right and the signings are great.
Other times, money is spent on flops who offer nothing to the club and ultimately, cost the Gunners a big chunk of change down the line.
Do you think Eberechi Eze could succeed as a defensive midfielder at Arsenal?
This past summer was a big one for Arsenal. Andrea Berta oversaw the arrivals of big names like Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Piero Hincapie and so far, with Arsenal top of the table, it’s worked out.
However, the Gyokeres signing in particular has caused a split in the fanbase and now, after technical director James Ellis was confirmed as leaving the club, Gunners fans have laid the blame with him.
Arsenal fans relieved James Ellis is leaving as they blame him for Viktor Gyokeres transfer
It doesn’t take too much to wake the beast that is a fanbase on social media and over on X, that’s what’s happened with Arsenal fans.

Reacting to the news that Ellis has now left his role as technical director, many supporters were quick to point the finger at him.
“Good, summer recruitment in forward areas was a disgrace’ one fan wrote, while another said ‘Fire everybody involved in the Gyokeres signing’.
That pattern continued as well as more fans jumped on the same bandwagon.
“If he was the one that suggested Gyokeres, then good riddance’
“Anyone that wanted Eze and Madueke and kept Martinelli should be sacked’
Who was Arsenal’s worst signing under James Ellis and why?
The Arsenal fans are clearly not overly happy with Ellis, and there was no let up either, as one fan commented further:
“Anyone being part of the recruitment last summer should leave. Berta, please step down. Gyokeres transfer will never be forgiven”.
It seems, then, that Arsenal fans are not too impressed with James Ellis’ legacy here.
However, he does leave the club with them top of the table by five points, in a cup final, and the top performing club in the Champions League.
In fact, he would have a strong argument to say he was actually a success, despite the critics here.
