Charlie Patino is considering his next step after deciding to move on from Arsenal this summer.

According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Charlie Patino is certain to leave Arsenal this summer, and has multiple options on the table. Championship clubs and foreign sides have made firm offers to the young midfielder, and a couple of Premier League outfits are also showing an interest.

Arsenal will be sad to see Patino go. The Gunners’ academy product has been at the Emirates Stadium since he was 11-years-old, after signing with the club in 2015. The 19-year-old made his first team debut in December 2021, when he came off the bench against Sunderland in an EFL Cup quarter final clash. Patino marked the occasion with a goal.

After his debut, Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Patino, describing the teenager as a “lovely kid,” and referencing his potential by saying they “know what he can become and now we have to cook him slowly,” as quoted by the club’s official website.

Patino ready to take the next step

Patino enjoyed a fine loan stint with Blackpool in the Championship last season, making 37 appearances in all competitions and contributing with 3 goals. He will be looking to kick on again this season and impose himself on games with greater regularity.

Fans will have wanted to see Patino reach his potential whilst still with the club. Unfortunately, that isn’t to be. It is understandable why Patino feels as though he needs to move on at this stage in his career to secure regular game time elsewhere.

With the likes of Jorginho and Mohamed Elneny providing the midfield rotation options, Patino’s chances would have been very limited at Arsenal this season. The England under-20 international would likely have ended up on loan again. He clearly wants to establish himself at a club where he can have a long-term future.
