Arsenal may not need to dip their toes into the transfer market after Gabriel Jesus’ injury given they already have Leandro Trossard.

Gabriel Jesus is confirmed to miss the opening weeks of the Arsenal season as he’s had a minor procedure to fix some knee irritation.

And with Folarin Balogun seemingly on his way out of the club, there’s actually no need to take to the transfer market.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Eddie Nketiah is of course the obvious candidate to lead the line against Nottingham Forest in the opening league game of the season.

However, Arsenal may be better off utilising the services of Leandro Trossard in a central role.

The winger has been on fire in Arsenal’s pre-season thus far and is showing the kind of form which led to the Gunners’ purchasing him in the first place.

Trossard is perhaps unlucky to not already have a spot guaranteed in the team by this point.

The Belgium international has taken almost all of his chances since joining in January and is giving Mikel Arteta a positive headache.

Without Jesus, this really could be Trossard’s chance to shine at Arsenal.

It’s important to note that Trossard’s promotion into a central role in the opening games would be through no fault of Eddie Nketiah.

Rather it would simply just seem irresistible to start all of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Trossard in the same front-line.

Trossard in a central position of course wouldn’t be too much of a gamble, either.

The 28-year-old regularly played in the position for Brighton and had some of his best success there.

Jesus’ injury is obviously a concern for Arsenal and their fans, but with Nketiah and Trossard both pushing for games there’s still plenty of reason for optimism.

Arsenal will once again be missing their star striker, but they’ll hope it isn’t as damaging with their strengthened squad.
