Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have found out who their opponents will be in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.

The Gunners picked up an impressive 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the quarter-final, while Spurs beat Manchester United 4-3 to book their place in the semis.

Arsenal have been drawn against Newcastle United, which will be a tough game. The Magpies have already beaten them once this season.

Tottenham, on the other hand, face Premier League and Champions League leaders Liverpool in the semi-final of the EFL Cup.

Arsenal could face Tottenham in the EFL Cup final

The rivalry between Arsenal and Tottenham is as fierce as any.

The North London Derby is always a huge occasion for both clubs, and neither group of fans want to come out on the losing side.

Arsenal have had great success in recent games against Spurs. They have won six of their last eight North London derbies and are unbeaten in their last five.

The Gunners will go into the semi-final games against Newcastle as the favourites, while although Tottenham will be the underdogs against Liverpool, there’s always a chance they can make it through.

If both Arsenal and Spurs win their games and reach the EFL Cup final, they will create English football history – it would be the first time ever that the two North London rivals would face each other in a major domestic final.

Arsenal and Tottenham have come up against each other in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup on four occasions before – 1968, 1987, 2007 and 2008.

The Gunners made it into the final on three of those four occasions.

Arsenal have tough games before and after EFL Cup semi-final vs Newcastle

For those wondering, the semi-final of the EFL Cup will be a two-legged affair.

Arsenal will host Newcastle at the Emirates in the week commencing January 6, 2025. The second leg will be at St James’ Park almost a month later, with the week commencing February 3, 2025.

Arsenal’s first leg is sandwiched between an away game against Brighton and Hove Albion and an FA Cup clash against Manchester United at home.

The second leg at St James’ Park will take place just days after Arsenal host Manchester City in the Premier League. They will face Leicester City away in the following game.

Those are some tough fixtures for Arsenal, but we think Mikel Arteta’s men have what it takes to get the job done against all of them.
