Arsenal are having an exceptional summer transfer window.

The Gunners are always good at planning ahead, but with Andrea Berta at the helm this time, most fans were unsure about how things would transpire.

However, the Italian has exceeded all expectations at the Emirates and has been earning a ton of praise from fans on social media.

Now, if things go to plan, Berta could do something at Arsenal for the first time this century.

Arsenal Berta is about to achieve a rare feat at Arsenal

Over the years, Arsenal have been annoyingly slow on the transfer market.

The Gunners have always taken their time to get deals over the line, and even though there have been some excellent signings, the wait has been painful for fans.

Many supporters went into this window expecting the same, but Berta has surprised us all.

Not only has the new Arsenal sporting director already signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard, but he is also closing in on the signings of Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera.

All of those deals are expected to go through in the coming days — the hope is to get them all done before they jet off to Singapore this Saturday.

If that happens, it will be the first time ‘Arsenal will have made six first-team signings before the start of their pre-season tour’ in this century.

The last time six players were signed by the Gunners before the pre-season tour was in 1997 — 28 years ago. Arsenal won the Premier League that campaign.

What happened when Edu Gaspar made six permanent signings in the same window?

Edu did a lot of good work when he was at Arsenal, but he wasn’t as fast as Berta.

Deals usually dragged on under the Brazilian, but he did manage to bring in a good number of players for the Gunners.

The summer of 2021 was when Edu signed six players permanently for Arsenal — Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Aaron Ramsdale and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Arsenal finished fifth in the table that season, and just three of the above six players are still at the club now.
