Arsenal are making big moves – not just on the pitch and the transfer market but behind the scenes with their own players as well.
Over the years at the Emirates, the Gunners made a few very big mistakes with player contracts.
Alexis Sanchez was allowed to enter his final year and then leave, while Arsenal were forced to pay outrageous money to both Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to keep them at the club.
Those were some shocking decisions, but Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta have transformed Arsenal now, and the North Londoners are a lot more proactive when it comes to contracts.
Now, Arsenal are in talks to give one player a lucrative new deal.
The huge salary increase Arsenal are offering Ethan Nwaneri to sign a new contract
Ethan Nwaneri is arguably the most talented youngster at Arsenal.
The teenager became the youngest-ever player to make an appearance in the Premier League in the history of the competition back in 2022.
He has developed even more since and has now been permanently promoted to the first team this campaign.
Nwaneri has played three games so far this season, one of which came from the start against Bolton in the EFL Cup. He scored a brace in that game.
Arsenal want to tie Nwaneri down to a long-term contract, and Football Transfers have now revealed their plan for the 17-year-old.
It has been claimed that Arsenal are in talks regarding a lucrative £60,000-a-week, five-year contract for Nwaneri, who currently pockets £3,120 every week.
That would be a near-20x increase on his current salary and it would also make him the third-highest-paid teenager in the entire Premier League behind Manchester United’s Leny Yoro and Archie Gray of Tottenham.

Nwaneri can’t sign a new Arsenal contract yet for one reason
Arsenal would love to have Nwaneri sign a new deal right away, but they will need to be patient.
The Hale End star is still only 17 years old, and rules state that players cannot sign long-term professional contracts until they turn 18.
In Nwaneri’s case, he will be eligible to sign the contract Arsenal are offering him on the 21st of March in 2025, when he turns 18 years old.
Arsenal are right to begin talks to keep Nwaneri at the Emirates. He has clearly earned Arteta’s trust and is definitely the future of the club.
We can’t wait to see more of him in the coming months.
