Arsenal will travel to the south coast to take on Bournemouth in a Premier League clash on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta will be expecting his Arsenal side to pick up three points against the Cherries. After all, this is the kind of game that the Gunners must win if they are to be crowned champions this season.

However, Arteta faces some real challenges heading into this fixture, as the North London club have several injuries to contend with at the moment. There will need to be changes to the Arsenal starting XI against Bournemouth, but the Gunners still ought to have what it takes to secure victory.

Arsenal chasing history against Bournemouth

If the Gunners succeed in beating Bournemouth, then they will become only the second club in the history of English football to record 2,000 top flight victories, as per The Athletic.

Only Liverpool have reached this milestone before, as the Merseyside club have racked up 2,065 wins in their history. Meanwhile, Manchester United are approaching the landmark themselves, but are still nearly 100 victories short of the target.

Founded in 1886, Arsenal have been a top flight club since 1919, have never been relegated in the 105 years since then.

There have been some monumental domestic successes along the way too, as the Gunners have won 13 league titles, with three coming in the Premier League era. They are also the most decorated club in FA Cup history, with 14 triumphs to their name.

Mikel Arteta targeting new era of Arsenal success

Arsenal have not been Premier League champions since 2004, but Arteta is now aiming to change that, having made the club genuine contenders again.

The Spanish coach has led his side to second-place finishes in the Premier League in each of the last two campaigns. Arsenal will be determined to go all the way this time around. The players will have learned valuable lessons from previous seasons, and will use the pain of those disappointments to motivate and fuel them.

Ally McCoist has tipped Arsenal for the title this season, and they can take another step towards that goal with victory over Bournemouth.
