Among all of the excellent youngsters at Arsenal, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are understandably taking most of the attention right now.
Both have taken their first team chances at Arsenal superbly ever since Mikel Arteta decided to increase their involvement in pre-season.
Nwaneri in particular seems as if he’s now a permanent fixture of Arteta’s senior side, someone who is even capable of offsetting Martin Odegaard’s injury absence.
That being said, there are still a few big talents brewing over at the Hale End Academy, ones that are not necessarily big names around the Emirates Stadium just yet.
And to that end, The Guardian have picked young goalkeeper Jack Porter as Arsenal’s next big young talent to keep an eye on.
Arsenal coach begged for Mikel Arteta to start Jack Porter
Porter was Arsenal’s pick in the ‘Next Generation 2024’ list, one that looked at the best youngster at each Premier League club.
Of course, Porter is already better known than he was a couple of months ago given he started for Arsenal in their EFL Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers.

David Raya and Neto were both unavailable and Arsenal goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana pleaded with Arteta to start ‘unbelievable‘ Porter instead of more experienced alternatives.
It’s also noted in the report that Porter used to play for the same grassroots team that produced Tony Adams, something that only bodes well for his future.
It’s hard to remember the last time that a goalkeeper emerged from Arsenal’s academy into the first team, with Wojciech Szczesny being the first name that springs to mind.
But given that Arsenal have been trying so hard to find a third-choice home grown goalkeeper of late, they may have ended up solving the problem from within their own academy.
In that regard, Tommy Setford is also available too, which will allow Porter to stay with the youth teams and play vital minutes for now.
Ethan Nwaneri names surprise football idol
In the write up about Porter’s potential, it’s also noted that the goalkeeper has the support of former Arsenal great David Seaman, who is perhaps a little too old to be his footballing idol.
But on the subject of examples to follow, Ethan Nwaneri named a shock footballing idol when speaking to Martin Odegaard earlier this season.
Odegaard chose Cesc Fabregas as the player he looked up to most, but Nwaneri was honest and named a Man City star, one which he may still face this season.
All considered, Arsenal do have some really exciting talents coming through right now.
And given that Arteta has been criticised for not offering more chances to Hale End talents of late, it seems that things are definitely improving.
