Arsenal were simply sensational as they recorded another huge win in a 5-0 thrashing of Burnley to maintain their title challenge.
Goals from Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz ensured that Arsenal remained within 2 points of Liverpool, but with a superior goal difference.
Mikel Arteta’s side have now won five games in a row since losing to Liverpool in the FA Cup, scoring 21 and conceding just twice in what has been a breathtaking run of form.
The victory secured all three points at Turf Moor, in a manner far more comfortable than previous visits have been, and this has now meant that Arsenal have broken yet another club record in the last few weeks.
Arsenal make club history with victory over Burnley
Arsenal’s run of five consecutive Premier League victories came after their loss to Fulham at the end of December, and they have a 100% record in the league in 2024.
This is the first time in history that Arsenal have won their first five Premier League games in a calendar year, with the FA Cup defeat to Liverpool prior to this run their only defeat.
A 5-0 win over Crystal Palace was followed by a tight 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest, before a vital 3-1 win over Liverpool at the Emirates, which saw Arsenal create more xG than Liverpool have ever faced.
Arsenal then faced two away games, and in those two they have beaten West Ham 6-0 and Burnley 5-0.
Arsenal’s outstanding form

This is the best stretch of results Arsenal have had under Arteta. The results are excellent, and the performances have been utterly dominant.
Arsenal have hardly conceded any chances in this time, and the only goals they conceded were from self-inflicted errors.
They have been electric going forward, with Odegaard and Saka particularly impressive, and their potency in front of goal is even more impressive considering the absences of Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe in some of these games.
Arteta named an unchanged starting XI today, with several players still absent with injury, and recently claimed that having a full squad will be key to any title challenge they embark on.
So far though, it has done little to affect their deadly form, and they will hope to carry this momentum into the Champions League, with a first-leg knockout tie in Porto coming up.
