Emile Smith Rowe has left Arsenal to join Fulham.

The Englishman came through the ranks at Arsenal’s academy and broke through to become a star in the first team a few years ago.

Smith Rowe is adored by everyone in and around the Emirates Stadium, and it really is heartbreaking to see him leave the club this summer.

With Smith Rowe gone now, the number 10 shirt is up for grabs, and Arsenal fans have all been discussing who should get the iconic top.

Arsenal Insider predicted that skipper Martin Odegaard could become Arsenal’s new number 10 after Smith Rowe’s departure.

Now, Arsenal fans have had their say.

Arsenal fans want Martin Odegaard to wear the number 10 shirt

Odegaard currently wears the number eight shirt at Arsenal, the same number Mikel Arteta donned when he was at the club.

Now, with Smith Rowe, gone, Arsenal fans are urging the Norway international to swap his eight for the iconic number 10 ASAP!

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Odegaard should take the number 10 shirt and leave the 8 for Merino.”

Another wrote: “It’s only fit now for Odegaard to wear the number 10.”

“ESR is really gone. Now we should give Odegaard number 10,” said another fan.

Another Gooner tweeted: “Arsenal shirt number 10 will be available after Fulham sealed the ESR deal completely… and it belongs to Odegaard. Skipper!”

“Martin Odegaard should be given the number 10 shirt, while Mikel Merino should get the number 8,” said another Arsenal fan.

The last six players to wear the Arsenal number 10 shirt

The number 10 shirt is iconic at almost every club in the world, and it’s no different at Arsenal thanks to Dennis Bergkamp.

However, since the legendary Dutchman left the club, the owners of the number 10 shirt have had mixed fortunes.

We still don’t know why Arsenal gave the shirt to William Gallas – that was a disaster. Then, Robin van Persie took it and did a great job. However, he left the club on terrible terms.

Jack Wilshere had the number 10 shirt for a long time, but injuries ruined his career. Mesut Ozil donned it after the former left, but his Arsenal career came to a sad end as well.

Smith Rowe was the latest one to wear the Arsenal number 10 shirt, and although he produced some truly magical moments, he failed to fulfil his potential.

It will be interesting to see how the next owner of the Arsenal number 10 shirt will fare at the Emirates Stadium in the coming years.
