Arsenal fans all in agreement over Mikel Arteta transfer decision, it must be done this January

As the January transfer window is just days away, Arsenal fans are expectant of a big few weeks when it comes to their Premier League title hopes.

The Gunners are playing catch up to the league leaders Liverpool, who hold a healthy gap at the top and a game in-hand over the north London outfit.

It will take both the Merseyside outfit dropping off and Arsenal picking up some form to turn things around for a title push.

That may require some reinforcements for Mikel Arteta, not least with injury troubles running rife through some key members of the squad.

That may suggest January as a key month to get some deals over the line, with plenty of big decisions ahead.

Arsenal fans react to Fabio Vieira loan recall option

One potential option in January has seen Arsenal linked with a loan recall for Fabio Vieira, who has been at FC Porto for the first half of the campaign.

With injuries in the forward line, a potential recall could make sense as the 24-year-old would have more opportunities for minutes.

While it’s unclear if it is possible, Arsenal fans all had a clear message for Mikel Arteta surrounding the move on social media.

Taking to X, one fan said on Fabio Vieira: “We needed him regardless for if we lose Odegaard again. But we still need to get a forward in January.”

Another added: “We need a minimum of 2 forwards in Jan, if he’s 1 of them so all the money goes on the other, it’s not a problem.”

Other supporters were keen for a recall too, but only as a squad option, adding: “As a bench option, yes, but we would still need at least one major signing.” and: “I’m happy for this to happen to bolster our options but if he’s just coming back to sit on the bench/not come on then there’s no point”

Others were a little more keen, claiming: “Like a new signing,” as well as: “IMO shouldn’t have gone off in the first place, especially if ESR was going to leave too.”

Whether Arsenal agree is a different question though, with the side having to make a decision on a possible recall in the coming days.

If they prioritise the current situation, they may push to bring Vieira back, but otherwise he may stay at Porto.

How has Fabio Vieira performed at Porto this season?

Vieira has had a mixed return to Porto in the first half of the campaign as it took him some time to get back into the team.

With just two goals and two assists, many would question the output of the Portuguese midfielder, though his performances have been better than that would suggest.

Before being dropped against Boavista, Vieira had played six matches in a row across all competitions.

Sofascore ranked those performances highly, all ranging from a 7.1 score all the way up to an 8.3, suggesting that he is playing well.

It’s unclear if that would be enough to push through a move back to Arsenal, but it wouldn’t harm his chances.
