Arsenal picked up a brilliant 2-0 win over Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Gunners had to overcome a few hurdles before the game. Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori were both declared unfit to take part, and that seemed like a huge blow.

Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko had to start in their place, and although fans were very sceptical about the duo before the game, both of them did well.

Arsenal opened the scoring through Jurrien Timber and then doubled their lead thanks to William Saliba. That was enough to seal the game against Manchester United.

Both goals came from corners on Wednesday night. Gabriel wasn’t even on the pitch, but Arsenal fans are all still talking about him.

What Arsenal fans are saying about Gabriel Magalhaes after win over Manchester United

Manchester United did well to contain Arsenal to very few chances from open play on Wednesday night, especially in the first half.

However, the Gunners were still threatening as ever from corners and came very close to scoring early on with Thomas Partey. Sadly, he missed a sitter.

Arsenal troubled Manchester United almost every time in corners. They should’ve scored more – Gooners are convinced that the scoreline would’ve been much bigger if Gabriel was fit to start.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “We’d have hit double figures if Gabriel was playing.”

Another said: “We genuinely would have scored 10 tonight if Gabriel was on the end of those set pieces.”

“If Gabriel was playing tonight and with Arsenal having all those corners, he’d have the Golden Head Award sewn up,” posted another.

Another Gooner said: “Would’ve been 5-0 if Gabriel was around.”

Arsenal’s record from corners is simply stunning

Arsenal are the set-piece kings in the Premier League and perhaps even in Europe.

The Gunners are dangerous every time they get a corner or a free kick, and Gabriel is usually their biggest threat.

On Wednesday night, Arsenal showed that they can be effective even without their big Brazilian, and that is all down to the work Nicolas Jover does behind the scenes.

Since the start of the 2023/24 season, Arsenal have scored a total of 22 goals from corners in the Premier League. That’s at least seven more than any other club in the division.

Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, who are the regular corner takers, have assisted seven goals each.
