Arsenal fans have all noticed the same thing about Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa after last night’s penalty shootout win against Slovenia.
The 2016 Euro champions progressed to the quarter-finals of this year’s competition thanks to a win on spot-kicks against Slovenia, where FC Porto keeper Costa, incredibly, saved all three penalties as Portugal claimed the rare 3-0 win in the shootout.
With Cristiano Ronaldo missing a penalty in extra-time, Portugal advanced to the quarter-finals by the skin of their teeth, where they will face pre-tournament favourites France, with Arsenal defender William Saliba coming off another top performance.
Yet Arsenal fans on social media were all saying the same thing about Costa after his penalty heroics.

Arsenal fans blown away by Costa’s saves after flawless shootout win vs Porto
Arsenal fans watching Costa’s now-iconic display in the shootout were quite amazed by just how good the Portuguese keeper was, given that the Gunners scored all four of their penalties against the Porto man earlier in the season.
The Gunners were taken to penalties by the Portuguese giants in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, where Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice all dispatched their spot-kicks past Costa with ease.
With David Raya the hero on the night with two penalties saved, Costa now being the main man in Portugal’s shootout was quite the sight, especially after the Porto star’s poor showing earlier in the year against Arsenal.
Here’s what some fans had to say on social media about Costa’s showing for Portugal against Slovenia…
One Arsenal supporter wrote: “Don’t recall Diogo Costa saving a single penalty during the shootout between Arsenal & Porto last season… We’re elite!”
Another fan posted on Twitter: “We scored all our penalties vs Diogo Costa. That has aged incredibly.”
Another Arsenal supporter wrote: “A very quick reminder that Arsenal scored all 4 penalties past Diogo Costa in the UCL penalty shootout.”
One more fan posted: “Only the best teams can beat Diogo Costa on penalties”

Costa has improved greatly since Arsenal’s penalty shootout win
At 24-years-old, Costa is one of the most exciting young goalkeepers in Europe, with the Porto star showing last night why he is the present and future of the Portuguese national team in stunning fashion.
And the shot-stopper’s performance also clearly showed that Costa has improved a lot since Arsenal’s penalty shootout win in March, with the goalkeeping superstar exhibiting a truly iconic performance between the sticks.
Indeed, Costa has a big future ahead of him, and yesterday’s performance against Slovenia will only push the Portuguese keeper’s stock even further heading into the summer transfer window.
