Arsenal fans have now sent a clear message to Mikel Arteta having seen Myles Lewis-Skelly feature against Bournemouth.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was included in the Arsenal starting XI that took on Bournemouth in a friendly match in Los Angeles, as the Gunners got their pre-season tour of the US underway.

Mikel Arteta included a number of youthful prospects in his side for this fixture, including Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

There is a plan for Nwaneri to feature regularly in the first team in the upcoming season, and Lewis-Skelly will also be hoping to make his senior, competitive debut for the club before too long.

The 17-year-old impressed against the Cherries. Despite naturally being a midfielder, Arsenal have been re-training Lewis-Skelly as a left-back, and it was in this role that he played against Bournemouth.

The teenager was comfortable on the ball, showed his attacking instincts and intent to get forward, and impressed with his ability to compete physically.

Arsenal fans want to see more of Myles Lewis-Skelly after performance v Bournemouth

Many Arsenal supporters liked what they saw from Lewis-Skelly in this friendly and are keen to see him granted further opportunities to shine.

Taking to X, one fan said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are ridiculous talents. So physically robust, riding challenges for fun against PL footballers and the confidence they play with isn’t normal. They must play men’s football this season. Prioritise loans if they aren’t going to be used.”

Another stated: “After watching Lewis skelly and Ethan Nwaneri cook against Bournemouth, Mikel HAS to give them both minutes in the first team no matter what !”

One fan claimed: “Them Arsenal youngsters I saw play this morning deserve some first team game time Lewis-Skelly, Nwanrie and Salah are different gravy.”

Another impressed supporter added: “Salah was good, liked Nwaneri yesterday but Lewis Skelly at LB was a monster.”

Will Lewis-Skelly get a chance for Arsenal this season?

Lewis-Skelly certainly looks ready to test himself at senior level. However, if the Gunners do view his future as being at left-back, then the England under-18 international faces tough competition for game time in that part of the pitch at the Emirates Stadium.

The likes of Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jakub Kiwior, and Kieran Tierney are all already at the club and blocking Lewis-Skelly’s path in that position. On top of that, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Riccardo Calafiori.
