Arsenal fans have recently heaped praise on Jorginho.

Jorginho has been a regular starter for Arsenal in recent weeks, as the club have endured something of a midfield injury crisis. Thomas Partey, Martin Odegaard, and Emile Smith Rowe are all currently sidelined, whilst Fabio Vieira is now set for a three-match ban following his red card against Burnley.

So far this season, Jorginho has made 14 appearances across all competitions, seven of which have been starts. The 31-year-old has started four of the north London club’s last five Premier League matches.

Aside from one poor performance against Tottenham Hotspur, Jorginho has been a reliable presence in the middle of the park for Arsenal. He played a key role in wins over Manchester City and Sevilla.

Jorginho is a good influence on and off the pitch. He is one of the most experienced players in Mikel Arteta’s squad. Striker Gabriel Jesus also named Jorginho as the best trainer at the club, showing that the Italy international is leading by example at London Colney.

Arsenal paid just £12 million to prise Jorginho away from Chelsea in the January transfer window. This deal now has to viewed as something of a bargain, given the impact Jorginho has been able to have at the Emirates Stadium. Few would have predicted the player to make such a mark at Arsenal.

In what may be a surprise to some, plenty of Arsenal fans are happy to have the veteran midfielder at the club.

Arsenal fans show appreciation for Jorginho

Taking to Twitter in the wake of the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Burnley, plenty of supporters praised Jorginho. One fan said, “Jorginho has been an unsung hero as of late.”

Another said, “for £12m, Jorginho has really been an exceptional signing. Played a lot of football for us since arriving, never injured and for the vast majority of that he’s been really good. Experienced head among this younger squad is so valuable.”

One fan stated that “like it or not, Jorginho’s addition to this team has been massive.” Another agreed, claiming, “if we didn’t have him we’d be in serious trouble for sure.”

Jorginho does not represent the long-term future at Arsenal. For the time being, though, he is an incredibly useful player to have around. Arteta has made it clear that he values the player greatly, and the 48-cap Italy international has taken it upon himself to take some of the younger Arsenal players under his wing.
