Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has been sacked by Crystal Palace, just two days before the sides meet in the Premier League at the Emirates.

The legendary Frenchman took charge of the Eagles at the start of last season, and he did a remarkable job there. He led them to a 12th-place finish last term, picking up impressive wins over Tottenham, Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs along the way.

Since the turn of this year, however, Palace have struggled. They haven’t won a game in 2023, and they decided it’s time to part ways. Vieira faced the sack this morning.

Arsenal face tougher Crystal Palace test after Patrick Vieira gets sacked

Arsenal crashed out of the Europa League following a defeat to Sporting Lisbon on penalties last night.

The Premier League is now much more of a priority than it previously was, and as Mikel Arteta said yesterday, we have 11 cup finals coming up and we need to win them all.

Our first test comes this weekend against Crystal Palace, and we were all expecting a tough game against Vieira’s men. However, it could now get even tougher because the Frenchman is no longer at the helm.

The Eagles announced today that their U21s boss, Paddy McCarthy, will take charge of the club for their trip to the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal have no idea what system Palace will play now, and that unpredictably makes things much more difficult than they otherwise would’ve been.

Fans all say the same thing

The new manager bounce is something Arsenal know very well after what happened against Everton in Sean Dyche’s first game in charge last month.

We lost that game, and there is growing fear now that the derby on Sunday could see a similar fate with Vieria sacked and McCarthy stepping in.

Arsenal fans are dreading the fixture now, especially after our result last night and injuries to Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba. Hopefully, we’re all just overthinking and Arteta’s men will bounce back in style.

Here’s what Arsenal fans had to say after Vieira was sacked…
