Arsenal fans have come across a very interesting stat after Manchester City beat Manchester United to win the 2024 Community Shield.

The Gunners won the Community Shield 12 months ago. Leandro Trossard scored a late equaliser in that game and Mikel Arteta’s men won it after a penalty shootout.

Many felt that was the perfect way to get the ball rolling ahead of the start of the Premier League season, and Arsenal had a fantastic campaign.

However, they finished second again, with City retaining their crown on the final day of the season.

Now, Pep Guardiola’s men have lifted the Community Shield, and Arsenal fans are all in agreement about what’s going to happen in the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal fans react after Manchester City win the Community Shield

After Manchester City beat Manchester United to win the Community Shield, a very interesting stat surfaced on social media that has left Arsenal fans excited.

In 12 of the last 13 seasons, the team that won the Community Shield failed to lift the Premier League title in the same campaign.

Arsenal fans think that curse is about to hit Manchester City.

One Arsenal fan tweeted: “Man City got the Community Shield curse! It’s Arsenal’s Year.”

Another said: “City with the Charity Shield curse. Arsenal winning the league now!”

“Now that Manchester City has won the community shield, we can safely say that Arsenal will finally win the league this season,” wrote another fan.

Another Gooner tweeted: “Now hand over the trophy to Arsenal. City with the Community Shield curse.”

There’s one bad news for Arsenal fans

Community Shield winners in 12 of the last 13 seasons haven’t had much luck in the Premier League title race – Arsenal found that out first-hand in the 2023/24 season.

That’s why many Gooners are happy that Manchester City won on Saturday, but there is a small problem.

The one team in the last 13 seasons to win both the Community Shield and the Premier League title is… you guessed it, Manchester City.

So, the curse may not work after all, but Arsenal should back themselves to go all the way on their own merit this season.

Arteta’s men are more than capable of pipping Manchester City to the Premier League crown.
