Bukayo Saka has brought a lot of joy to Arsenal fans by extending his contract at the club, but one of his comments has angered a few supporters.

The England international is one of the Gunners’ most important players. He has arguably played the biggest part in the ongoing project under Mikel Arteta, and all that’s left is to win silverware.

Arsenal are still alive in all four competitions – the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. They have a big chance of winning all of them.

How many trophies will Arsenal win in the 2025/26 season?

Fans are desperate for the North Londoners to go all the way and win them all this season, which is why Saka’s latest comments have ruffled a few feathers.

Speaking to Arsenal’s media team, the attacker said: “I think the journey that I’ve been on from where I started to where I am now, and the journey the team’s been on as well, is a special one.

“In my head, I believe the next few years are going to be the years that we get over the line and the years that we’re able to win trophies and make history for this club, be back where we belong, fighting for everything. For me, it was an easy commitment to continue here.”

That has upset a few Gooners.

Arsenal fans think Bukayo Saka has given up on winning titles this season

Some Arsenal fans have taken offence to Saka saying that the next few years are when the Gunners will get over the line.

That has led to Gooners saying the players have given up on winning titles this season following the 2-2 draw against Wolves.

One Arsenal fan reacted to those comments by saying: “‘The next few years.’ He basically said himself this year ain’t the year.”

Another tweeted: “Next few years, is it? Get rid of everyone at this point.”

“‘The next few years.’ They’ve already written off this season. Disgraceful,” said another.

Another Gooner wrote: “Even Saka doesn’t believe we will win a trophy this year!”

“Next few years? In a title race and you’re our captain, this is embarrassing and angering. This mentality by the leaders is why we keep failing,” tweeted another

Bukayo Saka’s comments are being misconstrued by Arsenal fans

Saka’s choice of words was probably wrong, but it’s clear that he is talking about this season as well when he said ‘next few years’.

The Gunners are still the favourites to win the Premier League title, and that is the case in the Champions League as well after their flawless league phase display.

It would make no sense for Saka or anyone else associated with Arsenal to write off this season after two draws.

The Arsenal fans above are interpreting his comments the wrong way. We are convinced that Saka fully believes his side can win the big trophies this season.

If he didn’t, why would he extend his contract?!
